Character Counts in the Media Center!

Mr. Nass and Mrs. Holler's students have created Character Counts based rules for the media center.

We brainstormed and wrote rules based on the six pillars. They are listed on the chart below.

Students showed A LOT of creativity while thinking of yes and no examples for each pillar.

Tell the truth. Tell Mrs. Nelson if you damage or lose a book.
Not bringing back your books on time.
Responsibility
Reading quietly after you are done checking out.
Not using a shelf marker, or putting books back in the wrong place.
Respect
Be gentle to the books, computers, and magazines. Say please, thank you, and you're welcome.
Bad manners like throwing things, arguing, or taking things that do not belong to you.
Fairness
Take turns at the computers, new book cart, and magazines.
Not paying attention when Mrs. Nelson is talking.
Citizenship
Help others with the computers. Share or take turns checking out books and magazines.
Being in other peoples' space. Pushing, shoving, or name calling.
Caring
Keep media center clean - pick up after yourself. Treat art supplies gently. Treat books with care.
Gossip or talking mean about other people.
